Part of a prestigious corpus of at least eleven small «travel» triptychs whose characteristics were defined by Leeuwenberg in 1958 and taken up in 2008 by Sophie Guillot de Suduiraut, our work could be the result of a collaboration between one or more workshops in Brussels and Mechelen, active according to specialists from the 1490s to the 1540s. The recent rediscovery in the collection of the Caramoor Center for Music and Arts in Katonah of its almost perfect equivalent, attests to the success of our composition within this luxury production, whose preciousness, softness and tenderness, conducive to private devotional practices, particularly feminine, of the first half of the 16th century, never cease to amaze and move.
